I never in my life would have imagined that I would say with real seriousness, "Aziz, lets convert our savings into dirhams and put it in a Moroccan bank for safe keeping." But my friends, that day has indeed come.
I don't know that I am really all that qualified to assess the financial stability of our nation, but I do know that my gut instincts are right about 99.99% of the time, and right now it is telling me we may be better off in Morocco than we are here. I am seeing major financial institutions- and now a massive insurance company- going bankrupt and needing government bailouts. That is not good. Not good at all.
I fear we are frighteningly close to the Great Depression of 2009. If that turns out to be true here is the plan:
1. Buy house in Casablanca (or possibly Tangier)
2. Move to Casablanca (or Tangier)
3. Learn to speak Arabic fluently
4. Open artists retreat and market heavily to Europeans
5. Earn money from retreat
6. Live happily ever after
P.S. - Rebecca, Dad and Petra can come too.
